Just the Baking Kit
Incase you’ve already read the book, this option includes the pre-portioned ingredients, recipe card, and the tea. (Everything from the Full Experience minus the book and tea)
What you’ll need
All you need from home is:
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 2 eggs, room temperature
- ¼ cup plain yogurt
- 1 tsp lemon juice or white vinegar
- 12 Tbsp butter, softened
- A sprinkle of flour
- ? hot milk or water
Introducing: Cardamom Cinnamon Rolls with Coffee Icing
I took my inspiration for these cinnamon rolls straight out of the book! In Legends and Lattes, Thimble, the baking rattkin, conjures up these giant, fluffy, pillowy, delicious cinnamon rolls with a sweet, sticky icing that blows everyone away.
Cardamom – besides being my favorite spice – pairs really well with cinnamon to evoke winter and Christmas vibes. In a nod to Viv, the main character of Legends and Lattes, who opens a coffee shop, I glazed these cinnamon rolls with a coffee icing. The cardamom adds a spicy, fragrant goodness that complements the coffee so well, almost like an Arabic coffee.
This Cardamom Cinnamon Roll recipe is great for a weekend day at home. In about 3 1/2 hours, you’ll have warm, pillowy cinnamon rolls and your house will smell amazing! Part of that time includes a proofing step that requires the dough to rise for at least an hour. What perfect little break to crack open a book…
Legends and Lattes
Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree is a cozy, light-hearted novel – a story of high fantasy and low stakes – as the cover describes. The book follows a battle-hardened orc, Viv, who decides to hang up her sword in favor of a slower life. She’s done with boss-slaying and ready to settle into a new life as a coffeeshop owner. The only problem is that no one in her town has ever heard of coffee.
This novel is quirky yet comfortable with an original premise that I haven’t seen before. I just find it so lovely that this orc decides to open a coffeeshop! I enjoyed reading about the fantasy world that Baldree built along with the interesting cast of characters that Viv comes across. The conflicts are minor, leaving you to just enjoy the journey and celebrate Viv’s success.
Featured in my 2023 Fall Book List, Legends and Lattes also has a newly-released prequel, Bookshops and Bonedust, that will be a must-read for anyone who loves a series.
This winter, let’s take a page out of Viv’s playbook and take a step back. Slow down, and enjoy the cinnamon rolls.
